THE EXECUTIVE BOARD 2026

Jeanne Andrew Valerio | Associate Editor

Jeanne Andrew T. Valerio is the Associate Editor of The Marynette. He believes that journalism is not merely the act of reporting events, but the enduring responsibility of preserving truth, providing context, and giving communities a faithful record of the moments that define them. As Associate Editor, he contributes to the publication through reporting, editing, layout, newsroom collaboration, and the mentorship of fellow staff members, helping ensure that every story reflects the standards upon which The Marynette is built.

His journey in campus journalism began in Grade 9 as a Columnist, where he first discovered that writing could do more than express opinion—it could provoke reflection, invite dialogue, and illuminate issues that deserved to be understood. In Grade 10, he joined the News section as a Newswriter, later assuming the responsibilities of Assistant News Editor before serving as News Editor within the same academic year.

His byline has appeared across News, Columns, and Sports, reflecting a particular interest in politics, international affairs, and Catholic coverage. Beyond the campus newsroom, he has participated in field reporting and photojournalism for events throughout the city, often working independently or alongside fellow staff members. Whether documenting civic events or cultural celebrations in Baliwag City, each assignment has strengthened his appreciation for journalism as a public service.

Mr. Valerio has also represented the school in both public speaking and campus journalism competitions. He placed first in Column Writing at the School-Based Press Conference (SBPC), earned first place in Oration and was recognized as Best News Anchor-English for the EAGLE Week. He later got bronze in Oration at the Baliwag City Private Schools Association (BaCiPriSA), advancing to the Bulacan Private Schools Association (BulPriSA). He also competed in Column Writing and TV Broadcasting & Scriptwriting-English at the Clustered Schools Press Conference (CSPC) and Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) Phase II respectively. Together, these experiences refined both his written and spoken voice, affirming that journalism demands not only the ability to inform, but also the courage to communicate with clarity, conviction, and restraint.

Beyond The Marynette, Mr. Valerio remains actively engaged in student leadership. He previously served as Secretary of the Interior of the Eco-Ambassadors Organization and now serves as its External Vice President. He is also the Class President of Grade 11-St. Augustine of Hippo and the Vice President of the Drafting 101 Club. Across these roles, he has come to regard leadership and journalism as complementary callings, both grounded in service, strengthened by collaboration, and sustained by accountability.

For Mr. Valerio, journalism begins with listening before writing and understanding before informing. It is a craft that demands patience, humility, and an unwavering respect for the truth. Through every story he writes, every page he edits, and every journalist he mentors, he remains committed to ensuring that The Marynette continues to serve its readers with fairness, accuracy, and purpose.
