Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida announced an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (I.L.B.O.) issued against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, May 15.
“I’ve issued an ILBO already for him. We’ve sent notices to our border control authority,” Vida said in a press briefing.
An I.L.B.O. is a government watchlist order that alerts immigration officers whenever a person under investigation tries to leave the country. It allows authorities to closely monitor their movements and gives law enforcement time to take action if necessary.
Vida clarified that Sen. dela Rosa would be arrested if he attempts to leave the country.
“I am giving specific orders to law enforcement agents, to our border control authorities that if Sen. Bato dela Rosa would try to leave the country, an appropriate arrest should be made,” he said.
Sec. Vida added that any attempt by the senator to leave the country amid the ongoing situation would be considered ‘a mockery of justice.”
“Nirerespeto natin ang mga karapatan ng isang nakaupong senator. Pero kapag nag-attempt ka, sa kalagitnaan ng ganitong sitwasyon, na lilipad ka o pupunta ka, ibang usapan na. Hindi naman namin puwedeng pabayaan ‘yung obligasyon ng ating gobyerno na mapanagot siya,” he added.
