St. Mary’s College of Baliuag, Inc. (S.M.C.B.) gathered in faith and unity as the institution held its first Holy Spirit Mass, a meaningful celebration that marked the beginning of a new academic journey under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Mass, celebrated in an atmosphere of reverence and devotion, provided the school community with an opportunity to deepen their faith and renew their commitment to live according to Christian values.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Rev. Msgr. Narciso Sampana, who delivered a homily centered on the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. Addressing the congregation, Msgr. Sampana spoke about how the Holy Spirit remains constantly present.

Drawing from the Gospel and Christian teachings, Msgr. Sampana explained that the Holy Spirit is not merely a symbol but an active presence that empowers people to live with faith, wisdom, courage, and compassion.

He emphasized that even during moments of doubt, fear, or difficulty, individuals are never alone because the Holy Spirit continually accompanies them, offering strength and direction.

He further encouraged students to allow the Holy Spirit to guide them throughout their academic journey. The Monsignor reminded them that prayer, faith, and trust in God can help them overcome obstacles and remain steadfast in pursuing their goals.

Moreover, he highlighted the importance of manifesting the fruits of the Holy Spirit in everyday life. He encouraged the community to practice love, kindness, patience, generosity, and self-control not only within the school premises but also in their homes and communities.

The Mass concluded with a renewed sense of spiritual purpose among the attendees, who were reminded that education goes beyond acquiring knowledge it also involves nurturing one’s relationship with God and serving others with compassion and humility.

Following the Holy Spirit Mass, a special fruit-sharing activity was conducted, adding a meaningful and symbolic dimension to the celebration. Prior to the event, students were encouraged to bring different kinds of fruits as offerings.

These fruits symbolized God’s abundant blessings and served as a reminder of the fruits of the Holy Spirit that Christians are called to cultivate in their lives.

The activity reflected the values of generosity, gratitude, and community participation. Students willingly shared what they had brought, demonstrating the spirit of giving and fellowship that the celebration aimed to promote.

After the Mass, each student received one fruit from the collected offerings. The distribution allowed every participant to experience the joy of both giving and receiving.

Beyond the simple exchange of fruits, the activity carried a deeper message about sharing God’s blessings with others and recognizing the interconnectedness of the school community.

With each fruit, a Bible verse was carefully prepared for the students. The Scripture passages served as words of encouragement, inspiration, and reflection, providing students with spiritual guidance as they continue their own journeys.

The fruit-sharing activity complemented the message delivered during the Mass. Just as fruits nourish the body, the Word of God nourishes the soul. Together, the fruit and Bible verse symbolized the physical and spiritual sustenance that believers receive through God’s grace.

As the S.M.C.B. community continues the academic year, the First Holy Spirit Mass stands as a reminder of the institution’s commitment to holistic formation developing students not only intellectually but also spiritually, morally, and socially.

Through prayer, reflection, and acts of generosity, the celebration reinforced the values that define the Ignacian Marian spirit and strengthened the community’s collective faith.

The event concluded with students, faculty, and staff carrying with them a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and trust in God’s guidance. Inspired by the message of the Holy Spirit and the spirit of sharing fostered throughout the celebration, the S.M.C.B. community begins the school year united in faith and committed to living out the values of love, service, and compassion in all that they do.
