The first batch of beneficiaries under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in the City of Baliwag has officially received their salaries after successfully completing 20 days of employment under the City Government of Baliwag, providing students with both financial assistance and meaningful workplace experience, July 16.
Each beneficiary received up to ₱11,500 in wages in recognition of their service rendered throughout the program.
The salary distribution marks the completion of the first batch’s 20-day employment and reflects the local government’s continued efforts to support students through programs that promote both education and employment.
Implemented through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Baliwag in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the City Government of Baliwag, the SPES program provides temporary employment opportunities to qualified students, allowing them to earn income while gaining practical work experience as they continue their education.
Throughout their 20-day employment under the City Government of Baliwag, the student beneficiaries gained firsthand workplace experience while contributing to government operations.
Their participation allowed them to develop practical skills, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and gain valuable exposure to a professional working environment.
Beyond providing financial assistance, the SPES program serves as an avenue for students to prepare for future careers by exposing them to workplace expectations and encouraging values such as discipline, teamwork, accountability, and dedication.
The experience also enables participants to build confidence while balancing the responsibilities of work and education.
The initiative reflects the City Government of Baliwag’s continued commitment to investing in the youth by creating opportunities that allow students to acquire meaningful work experience while pursuing their studies.
Through programs such as SPES, the local government aims not only to help address the immediate needs of students but also to equip them with knowledge, skills, and experience that will prepare them for future employment.
The financial assistance provided through the program is expected to help beneficiaries meet educational and daily living expenses as they continue their studies.
For many participants, the income earned through SPES also helps lessen the financial burden on their families while enabling them to pursue their academic goals.
The SPES is a nationwide initiative of the DOLE that provides temporary employment opportunities to deserving students, particularly those from low-income families, during school breaks.
Through the collaboration of the national government and local government units, the program enables young Filipinos to earn while learning, helping them remain in school while developing valuable workplace skills.
The City Government of Baliwag also recognized the important role of PESO Baliwag in the successful implementation of the program.
Through its continued coordination with partner agencies and commitment to youth employment, the office remains instrumental in creating opportunities that promote education, workforce readiness, and personal development among the city’s young residents.
The City Government of Baliwag reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining programs that create meaningful opportunities for students and invest in the next generation of professionals.
By combining financial assistance with practical work experience, the initiative continues to demonstrate the city’s dedication to empowering young Baliwagenyos and helping them build a brighter future through education, employment, and skills development.
