Ignacian Marians uphold sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie in athletics, academic, and cultural competitions as they participate in the Baliwag City Private Schools Association (BaCiPriSA).
With the theme “Nurturing Compassion and Strengthening Values for Social Development” or “Paglinang ng Malasakit at Pagpapatibay ng mga Pagpapahalaga sa Panlipunang Kaunlaran,” the event aims to develop good character among players through healthy competition.
BaCiPriSA’s formal opening took place at Baliwag City Star Arena on Oct. 6, where multiple participating private schools from Baliwag gathered.
The event opened with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Francis Protacio S. Cortez III, OSA, from the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Saint Augustine of Baliwag.
Following the Mass, schools then lined up outside the arena for the parade and the saludo dance entrance of each school. The Salindayog Cultural Dance Troupe from St. Mary’s College of Baliuag also performed a doxology after the parade.
Additionally, Baliwag Polytechnic College of Baliwag Aspin Pep Squad showcased their dance set and talent in cheerleading.
Several guests were also invited for short messages: Ms. Ma. Aurea Rhodoro Geronimo, SGOD Chief of Baliwag City; Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando represented by Trisha Sarmiento; Mayor Vice Mr. Ferdie V. Estrella; Mayor Ms. Sonia “Mommy Sonia” V. Estrella; Vice Gov. Alex Castro; and Agustina Dominique “Ditse Tina” C. Pancho.
Nearing the end of the formal event was the cauldron lighting, led by two of the three Palarong Pambansa placers last year.
Furthermore, the Best Saludo Dance Award was given to Living Angels Christian Academy, San Benildo Integrated School, and Saint Jean Baptiste Academy.
Players and contest participants took the general oath of sportsmanship, pledging for responsible competition and camaraderie, followed by the raising of the BaCiPriSA and school flags.
The event wrapped up with the BaCiPriSA chief, Cynthia Angeles announcing the formal opening of the BaCiPriSA and the singing of its hymn.
