Ignacian Marians Strike Gold in BaCiPriSA Taekwondo

With precision in every movement and determination in every strike, Ignacian Marian taekwondo athletes, Lenzie Galvez, Kylie Mananguit, and Samantha Evangelista, secured gold-medal finishes in their respective categories in the 2026 Baliwag City Private Schools Association (BaCiPriSA) Meet at Waltermart, Baliwag, Oct. 8.

In the Secondary Girls Poomsae Team Category, the three taekwondo athletes joined forces to bag first place against their opponent from Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF), capping their performance with a victory that highlighted their teamwork and commitment to representing their school.

For Galvez, a 15-year-old grade 10 student, the achievement carried greater significance as she competed in her final BaCiPriSA, saying, “Since it was my last BaCiPriSA, me and my teammates thrived to go for the gold. We were determined to give it our all to end this BaCiPriSa on a high note to make my last fight truly unforgettable.”

“Us bagging the gold medal was something unexpected for us, as we only had a little practice together. We all felt shocked yet happy with the outcome as we had carried our schools name as we won that gold medal,” she added.

Meanwhile, Evangelista, who claimed gold in the Kyurogi Individual Category, reflected on a memorable moment during the match, stating, “The most memorable part of it was when the other team complained that the game was unfair or biased just because I was taller than my opponent. For context, nothing was rigged. There was nothing unfair about the game because we were placed in our categories by weight.”

Mananguit, a third time competitor, also delivered an outstanding performance in the Poomsae Individual Category, securing another first-place finish against MDSF and completing a double-gold campaign alongside her team victory.

Despite the pressure before competing, she viewed her nervousness as motivation to improve her execution. “If I had to pick the most memorable moment, it’d probably be my nervousness before competing, but I like the pressure since it gives me more drive to perform better and make more powerful kicks and blocks,” she said.

“Being able to represent our school loud and proud was the main inspiration, we really wanted to show the passion and fire of an Ignacian Marian and the fact we were able to win the gold  was just an added bonus,” the 13-year-old added.

With three gold-medal finishes across the individual and team categories, the Ignacian Marians closed their BaCiPriSA campaign with a strong statement, proving their skill and determination on the competition floor while bringing pride to their school through their hard-earned victories.
