THE EXECUTIVE BOARD 2026

Ma. Flordanisa Torres | Editor-in-Chief
Having long been fascinated by 2000s magazine-core films where editors navigate the glamorous chaos of either lifestyle or finance publications, her life now somehow captures what she first only watched unfold in the movies. And there she goes. Each time she opens her laptop and gazes at the Google Docs page, it is as though a guitar riff sounding like the melodic opening of Suddenly I See bursts like a sunlit anthem to endless possibilities. As Editor-in-Chief of The Marynette, Ma. Flordanisa C. Torres does no longer merely watches how a newsroom comes to life—she leads one, typing headlines and refining designs on a clicky keyboard with the same conviction that cinematic universe first awakened in her.
Gently ascending the editorial ladder, she first served two consecutive terms as Associate Editor. Over the years, her involvement has spanned across operational oversight, internal communications, editorial direction, and the quiet orchestration of publication management. An adventurous writer at heart, her ink has always bled most vividly for editorials. Still, she has never confined herself to a single department, embracing sports coverage, and writing various articles in science, news, and news features; it has allowed her versatility to become one of the defining signatures of her craft.
Her journey with The Marynette began in her third year of junior high school, when she simultaneously served as the Managing Editor for Circulation and as the Science and Technology Editor. That same year marked the beginning of representing the school across various writing competitions. A season of firsts. As a first-time writing delegate, she competed in Pagsulat ng Sanaysay at the Baliwag City Private Schools Association (BaCiPriSA). Soon after, as a budding campus journalist, she won in the Pagsulat ng Editoryal at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), earning her debut to the 2024 Provincial Schools Press Conference.
The following year saw her transition to the English writing categories. She secured gold in Essay Writing at BaCiPriSA, silver in Editorial Writing at the City Schools Press Conference (CSPC), and back-to-back gold medals in both phases of the DSPC. Her momentum continued as she clinched another gold medal in Essay Writing at the BulPriSA Provincials, before wrapping up her junior high writing journey at the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC). In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded Outstanding Performance in Communication Arts.
At the dawn of her senior high life, she served as Class President and External Vice President of the Eco-Ambassadors’ Organisation (EAO). Within that same busy year as an 11th grader, she continued to thrive in the writing circuit, pulling off back-to-back gold at the BulPriSA Provincials in the literary form where her heart has always found its truest home—essays. The school year took its final bow with her podium finish at the RSPC and a gold medal that earned her a spot at the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), an event she had only admired from afar for the past three years.
Fidelity has become the quiet thread woven through every chapter of her journey, along with the belief that every story deserves to be told with depth and purpose. Whether leading a publication or representing an institution, Issa will forever continue to write with the same wonder that first drew her so dearly to that beloved film genre. Dreams, indeed, do become the stories one is destined to live out.
