Step Into The Spotlight

“Ladies and gentlemen, creatures of wonder and wanderers of the night! Prepare your eyes, your hearts, and perhaps your very souls… for the master of illusion, the conjurer of impossible dreams, the one who bends magic to his will— Magnificus Xavian!”

Applause erupted from the crowd as the man of the night emerged onto the stage, his slow, deliberate footsteps carrying him toward the center of the ring. A small smirk formed on his face as everyone complimented him; their attention only fueled his desire to perform with greater pride.

His cheeks burned, not from flustered embarrassment, but from the intoxicating sense of superiority that came from having every eye fixed upon him.

His heart pounded with excitement with every step he took. He couldn’t suppress the grin spreading across his face, as the thrill of the moment coursed through his veins. The need for attention only grew stronger within him, fueling his desire to remain at the center of everyone’s attention.

At last, the world was exactly where he wanted it: beneath his gaze.

Every single soul was captivated by his presence.

“Finally…”

His body felt heavy, and he slowly dropped to his knees, lifting his head as he admired the spotlight surrounding him. Tears threatened to form in his eyes—not from sadness, but from the exhilaration that consumed him.

As he raised his arms toward the light and basked in its glow, a breathless smile spread across his face.

For a moment, nothing else mattered.

The crowd’s merriment washed over him until there was nothing more than one enormous wave of applause enveloping his being. The beam of light above him poured over his face, and it was as if this grand stage had been built for this very moment.

Every single eye in the room locked onto him.

He tilted his head back slightly, soaking in the warmth of the spotlight. While his eyes remained shut for a brief moment, a tiny laugh slipped out of him.

This is what I wanted.

I wanted people to see me. To remember me. I wanted to know that I had made an impact on the ones standing before me, even for just a moment.

I chased the feeling of being impossible to ignore.

For once, Xavian didn’t have to wonder whether anyone was paying attention. He didn’t have to fight for his place in the room. It had already belonged to him; it rested in the palm of his hand.

Maybe that’s why he never felt ashamed of wanting attention, for everyone longs to feel noticed, appreciated, and remembered in some way. Xavian just had no intention of hiding it.

At this point, he could have gotten up.

He could have started his performance.

Instead, he stayed in the spotlight a little longer.

Why rush?

This moment belonged to him.

The magician slowly opened his eyes and looked out across the audience.

No trace of embarrassment was evident in his expression. No attempt to hide how much he enjoyed everything about this moment.

If anything, he looked completely unapologetic.

Let them stare.

A quiet, satisfied breath left him.

I’ve earned it.

And when he finally rose from his knees, he did so with the confidence of someone who had already decided that the spotlight was where he truly belonged.
