A Brief Run, A Lasting Lesson for SMCB CODM Team

After a game of cooperation and rapid fires, St. Mary’s College of Baliuag’s (S.M.C.B.) experienced a humbling debut in their first play with National University (N.U.) at Baliuag University, Oct. 8.

In their best of 3 rounds, S.M.C.B. Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) High School team ended their run with a score of 0-2, hailing N.U. as the winner of the match up.

During round one, N.U. eventually took control in the battlefield and maintained their lead throughout the game, securing a dominant 200-80 victory over S.M.C.B.

On the scoreboard, N.U. reigned with their Most Valuable Player (M.V.P.) NUB.PALACIO, which has Kill/Death/Assist (K/D/A) of 38/14/10, while the top player of SMCB being Princess Elieza Fajardo of Grade 10 has a K/D/A of 25/28/27.

The M.V.P. from S.M.C.B.— Elieza Fajardo, shared, “I was really surprised to be M.V.P. since I truly didn’t expect it at all. While I’m so grateful, I also know there’s still so much I can improve on. I feel like I could’ve made better decisions and played smarter in some parts of the game.”

However, the second round was awarded to N.U. because of a violation from S.M.C.B., giving the opposing team a score of 2-0 and ending it without a third game.

A mix of devastation and hope, Team Captain Jian Gabriel Agapito from Grade 11 St. Augustine stated “When the match started to shift in my opponents’ favor, we felt devastated, but the hope that there’s still a possibility for victory never wavered.”

Despite defeat, S.M.C.B. showed their determination until the very end, alongside their Coach Christian Jem Ramos who supported and guided them.

“Given the limited time to prepare and the opportunities they had for practice and scrimmages, they still showed up, gave their best, and competed with what they had. Of course, there’s always room for improvement, and I’m sure there are things we can learn from this experience.” said by Coach Ramos commenting on the team’s performance.

He also expressed: “Hopefully, next school year, we’ll come back stronger, more prepared, and ready to give the other schools a tougher fight. I’m proud of them, win or lose.”

With lessons learned and shared strategies, an early exit for S.M.C.B. ‘s CODM won’t stop them from a stronger comeback for the next competition they face.
