Alas annihilates Kyrgyztan in streak set for semis chance

After previously losing to the Aussies, Alas Pilipinas arises with a comeback against opponent Kyrgyztan in a straight set sweep, 25-9, 25-11, 25-17, playing for the 2026 Asian Volleyball Confederation (A.V.C.) Women’s Volleyball Cup at Candon City, Ilocos Sur, June 8, 2026.

To relive their chances for the semifinals, Thea Gagate and Jov Gonzaga led Alas’ Pool A run to conclude their match just 60 minutes into the game.

Middle blocker Gagate pounced a total of 11 points with eight kills, two blocks and an ace. Gonzaga nibbled 10 while Alyssa with nine and Ces Molina with eight.

Alyssa Solomon, who recently scored 23 points previously was only placed inside the rotation by the third set.

The opposite hitter kept Kyrgyzstan at bay to stretch out a 22-12 lead before allowing Galang and Loresco to wrap the game.

17 minutes was all it took for the Philippines to win the opening set, their opponents ended up only ever scoring one attack point—the rest were faults from the home team’s eight errors.

“We just focused on the mistakes we made in our last game and found ways to address them. We wanted to recover and help bring back everyone’s confidence,” said Gagate in Filipino.

The Kyrgyz ended up dropping to 0-3, their highest scorer being Aiturgan Aitbekova.

With a 2-1 win-loss record, the Filipinas need to come out victorious in their last two games before a break.

Alas Pilipinas slowly secures its spot on second place behind South Korea (2-0), eventually wrapping up the pool matches against Chinese Taipei on June 11.
