“Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for its 173rd consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or ‘uson’ and rockfalls,” the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said in a Facebook post.

Lava effusion from the summit crater was observed late Friday night and early Saturday. The activity occurred from 9:41 p.m. to 11:49 p.m. on Friday and from 2:39 a.m. to 2:44 a.m. on Saturday.

The PHIVOLCS bulletin also stated that volcanic earthquakes, tremors, and rockfall events were recorded.

These observations indicate that Mayon remains active, and hazardous eruptions are still possible.

PHIVOLCS also warned that lava flows, ashfall, and other volcanic hazards may occur, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

The local government has urged residents to prepare for any changes in the volcano’s activity.

Community members living near Mayon are advised to stay outside the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone.

Meanwhile, emergency response teams remain ready to assist affected communities.

PHIVOLCS encourages the public to stay informed by following official advisories and to avoid spreading unverified or false information.
