Panghihimasok ng Tsina sa Ayungin Shoal, Mariing Binatikos ng US

Binatikos ng Estados Unidos ang naging panghihimasok at pagsasagabal ng Tsina sa routine humanitarian rotation and resupply (RORE) mission ng Pilipinas sa Ayungin o Second Thomas Shoal noong Huwebes, Sept. 24.
Inilarawan ni G. Lee Lipton, ang embahador ng Amerika sa Maynila, ang mga gawain ng China Coast Guard (C.C.G.) at People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) bilang mga ‘irresponsible maneuvers’ sa isang inilabas na pahayag noong Linggo, Setyembre 27.
“The United States strongly condemns the use of dangerous blocking and other irresponsible maneuvers by the China Coast Guard and the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) that threatened a collision with a Philippine vessel and prevented a lawful and routine resupply mission to Second Thomas Shoal on September 24.”
Idinagdag ni G. Lipton na sinuportahan ng kanyang bansa ang kaalyadong Pilipinas, sabay ang pagpupugay sa ipinamalas na propesyonalismo at matinding pagtitimpi ng mga Pilipino.
“We stand by our Philippine Allies and laud their professionalism and restraint.”
Nanawagan rin ang embahador sa C.C.G. at PLAN na tigilan ang mga aksyong nagpapasidhi sa sitwasyon na banta sa malayang komersyo sa dagat at katatagan ng Indo-Pacific.
“We call on the China Coast Guard and PLAN to cease the use of escalatory tactics that threaten the freedom of navigation and a free and open Indo-Pacific.”
