The battle of the fittest; from all 18 regions of the archipelago

The national multi-sporting event that showcases not only skill but also determination begins with a massive patter.

 of rest until May 31, as the country’s pride in sports begins with a heavy milestone of student-athletes from elementary to secondary levels, ready to showcase months of preparation.

The Palarong Pambansa 2026, being organized meticulously and with care, was put to face a staggering P1.7 billion cost to rehabilitate and construct. This was allocated by the province, procured from the special education fund, general fund and trust fund, along with contributions from multiple representatives.

Participants find themselves enjoying unique offerings this year such as the libreng sakay, complimentary tours, and the Ethno Village for in-between game rests.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara states that this year’s Palaro sets more opportunities for young Filipino student-athletes, while the most anticipated athletic event introduces a new variety of sports, extensive representation, and updated policies.

The very example that paves pristine opportunities for student-athletes is the addition of a historical first; the Para Games being included in this year’s event. It allows para-athletes the playing field to shine and to represent a community that deserves recognition.

The only city in Agusan Del Sur, Bayugan City, is set to host Elementary Basketball, Badminton, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Chess and Wushu.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Prosperidad runs Athletics, 3×3 basketball, secondary basketball, dancesport, billiards, football, softball, sepak takraw, swimming, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, Para Games and rhythmic gymnastics.

Boxing will be held in the municipality of Esperanza, while Talacogon provides the ground for secondary girls’ basketball, archery, and table tennis. Arnis, baseball and futsal in San Francisco as Rosario stages Pencak silat competitions.

Ultimately, Bunawan hosts aerobic gymnastics along with the men’s and women’s artistic gymnastic events.

The best of the best, Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz is listed as one of the star guests—ready to excite the crowd. 

With an expected amount of 13,000 delegates, the province prepares to make history despite it being their first-ever hosting of the 66th edition of the Palarong Pambansa. Numbers of student-athletes, coaches, officials and tourists further escalate along with excitement for the multi-sport event.

Regardless of location, the Palarong Pambansa will be accessible to watch from the Pilipinas Live app and One Sports Network.
